I bought my Sockapaloooza yarn today. I picked Socks That Rock in the new Knitty Rocks colorway. My pal said she liked bright colors and has been on a pink/green/orange binge lately and I think the Knitty Rocks colorway meets all of those requirements.
Now I have to find a pattern to go with the yarn. Any suggestions?
Pattern : Garter Rib from Sensational Knitted Socks
Needles : Addi Turbo US 2's
Gauge: 8 sts/inch
Yarn used : Koigu - I lost the labels so I don' know the color number.
There are really two socks here, one underneath the other!
I
found some pink Koigu to finish up the toe and used what I had left of
the varieagated to knit some stripes in the toe so it wouldn't be so
sudden of a change. I love these colors. They make me happy.
I knit them last week during training at my new job. I started them on Monday and finished them up last night.

Update from yesterday's post - I have knit 14 pairs of socks. I forgot about the two pairs I made for the Knitting Olympics earlier this year.
I learned how to make socks in February 2005. I wanted to knit socks before that but I was intimidated by DPNS.
I taught myself how to knit socks. I used an article in a Family Circle Knits Magazine that was quite helpful.
This is my first pair of socks. They are made with Opal yarn and I'm pretty sure I used bamboo size 3's to knit them. They are very loosely knit and have held up but I don't wear them much and they are full of ladders but I still love them since they were the first. I'm not too crazy about the colors now though.
I would have used smaller needles!

I knit my socks on circular needles. I knit my first pair of socks on DPNS and then I started using 2 circular needles. This year I learned how to do Magic Loop and I have been using that ever since. The second pair of socks I knit, I used 2 circular needles and the article from Knitter's Review on How to Knit Socks. That article taught me how to make socks to fit my own feet and I've been using my own sock pattern ever since.
I prefer a heel flap. Sometimes I use a slip stitched heel and sometimes I use an eye of partridge heel. It just depends on my mood really.

Dear fellow knitters,
I'm knitting a sock with Koigu for the first time and I'm down to the toe and nearly out of yarn.
The stitch marker is where I started the toe decreases. The yarn on the left hand side is what I have left. Not nearly enough to finish the toe.
The cuff is 6 inches long and I'm knitting 8 sts/inch with 68 stitches around. On 2.5mm needles (US 2's)
A. Is this normal for Koigu? I thought that there was enough in 2 skeins for a pair of ladies medium socks.
B. Should I use another color for the toe or should I borrow the rest to finish the toe from my second skein? Is it likely that one skein was short yardage? Or did I just make the sock too big? I'm not opposed to solid color toes, btw.
I've already thought to measure the sock against the skein that is unused right now and if there's a big difference in the weights, I'll just go ahead and use the other skein.

Chevron Pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks
For some reason, I had it in my head that the sending date for socks was May 15th. My socks have been done for about a month now and I was planning on sending them out after I got back from Maryland Sheep & Wool (I had a fabulous time btw, more on that later this week). However, I discovered that the sending date was in fact, May 2nd. I scrambled around tonight and managed to make a label & a postcard for my socks and they will be sent out tomorrow. It's a good thing that they don't have very far to go.
I also received my socks while I was away over the weekend and they are fabulous! My pal, Angela, used a gorgeous stich pattern from a Barbara Walker treasury and I love them! I need to take some pictures in daylight to properly show them off, but I just wanted my pal to know that I got them and they fit and I love them! Thank you so much!

Dibs on Ribs is done! I am wearing it to Sheep & Wool this weekend, so if you see me, say helllo! I made a few modifications to the pattern to make it a little longer and the arms a little bigger around. I really love how this sweater turned out, I love Silk Garden and I love how it looks on me. I promise to post pictures of myself wearing it at Sheep & Wool this weekend when I get back. I really tried to color match better but it's harder to color match with Silk Garden than it is with Kureyon. Oh well, I still think the results are pretty stunning.

This yarn is a sport weight version of Socks That Rock I purchased at Sheep & Wool last year from The Fold. The skeins kntted up very differently but I like the stripiness and quirkiness of these socks and I'll wear them as they are.
After admitting defeat and accepting that I was only going to get 1 pair of socks finished for the Knitting Olympics, I pulled off an eleventh hour miracle and actually achieved my goal of finishing 2 pair of patterned knitted socks.
I knit one toddler sock last night and finished the other up this afternoon. I realised last night that I never said that the socks had to fit me and that I could still achieve my goal if I made a wee pair o' socks.

Adorable wee socks. They are going to go in a basket I have reserved for gifts. There's an error in the written directions for this pattern in the book. It's supposed to be a basket weave but it didn't turn out that way. I'll have to email the publishers and let them know.

I probably worked on these socks for 6-8 nights during the Olympics plus a Sunday or two and whenever else I could get in a couple of rounds. If I weren't so busy, I definitely could have made 2 regular size pair in the 16 days. They went very quickly and the pattern was easily memorized.
I also took a break from socks last weekend and knit up this quick little ponchette to wear at a local knitting fair that I worked at over this past weekend :

My sock recipient has been knitting socks for 4 years, so I have to find an interesting pattern to do for her. I can't cast on for these until March or so, considering the Knitting Olympics are starting on Friday.
